here is one interesting factoid about that car. We lived in UK/Europe for a total of 4 years - ‘77-‘78 and ‘83-‘85. In late ‘77 we were living in Hampstead near the Heath and on walks to the Heath we’d go up Parliament Hill and pass a very modern house - out of place in Hampstead! - with a lovely Polaris CSL in the driveway. It wasn’t until I’d answered the ad in late ‘83 just after we’d arrived for our 2nd stint away that I realised I was about to buy the same car I used to admire 6 years earlier! This photo is taken outside our flat in Nassington Rd, Hampstead (off-street parking and a garage!!) with my 450SEL that I think I ended up shipping to Oz. Shipping used Mercs, BMs and Porsches from the UK to Oz in those days was a very lucrative pastime and I’m guilty of participating!

Title: WGK 117M

Mileage: 2016  72,700 miles

Color:

  • Polaris

History :

  • 2021 : It has been in the same family for 30+ years in which time it has been completely restored it with all genuine parts. Every panel has been replaced apart from the roof and bonnet and it’s a genuine CSL meaning it’s the light weight model with aluminium doors, boot lid etc and has been repainted throughout, so no rust or anything. It has 5 genuine Alpina wheels and has had a new genuine BMW engine which has done probably about 200 miles (if that) The gearbox has been modified to a 5 speed sport gearbox but again with all genuine parts.

Transaction:

  • May 2021: 160,000 BPD

Owner:

  1. -> Louie Brown (FB)

  2. 1992 circa: Louis Brown's dad

  3. ->1983-> 1992 circa: David Anderson (FB) in Kemsing, Kent, UK (near Tonbridge)

  4. Was first registered in the UK on 10 April 1974 so the guess is that it was delivered in Europe, probably to a UK serviceman, in April 1973 or earlier which would match its very late VIN number, and then imported tax free into the UK a year or more later.

  5. Delivered:
