BMW 3.0 CSL 2285416
Photo below 1986/1987 Model: 3452
Title: REC 400M Color: Polaris metallic (060) Matching numbers: 2017: yes History: 2010: restored by Cooks Ferry. It is believed the car was put into heated dry storage in 1997 when its owner at the time was working overseas, and unfortunately, the car’s service book was misplaced during this period. REC 400M was purchased by owner 5 because of its exceptional condition, appearing rust-free and a matching numbers example, and he commissioned a complete bare-metal professional restoration. With the car being so unspoiled, many original parts were simply cleaned, renewed and reinstalled. Where this wasn’t possible, genuine new-old-stock BMW parts were used. 1986 - 1987: respray by Cook Ferry, Edmonton Circa 1984: Simon Dobinson bought the car from a dealer in Liegh on Sea in Essex. It was damaged due to an accident; Circa 1986/7 went about renovating it on a shoe string with new wings arch caps poor bare metal respray spent 5k on it. Simon ran out of money and after the first child sold it for 3k to a "coloured" fellow from Charlton. 86.87 I renovated it that year on a shoe sting and.sold it shortly after first child and skint. Lost all the photos in a house robbery. Mileage:
Comments from PF in 2017: For that kind of money there are a lot of faults on the car. Going through the pictures, the first 2 of the front show the bumper out of place and the left hand side of the bodywork looks to be too low and the edge of the bonnet sticking up. At the rear the bumper is out of shape and the boot edge is uneven. Looking at the sills, it's missing the stainless strips at the top of the sill covers. Drivers seat is missing the plugs for the headrest. Wood trim is far too red. Wrong steering wheel. Window switches don't seat properly. Switch knob chewed up. Radiator down on right hand side. Air box wrong colour. Wrong rubber moulding around engine bay. Windscreen washer bottle missing. Residue of label on top hose. Boot rods rust showing through. Front waistline trim dented by grill. Spare wheel well a real mess leading to doubts about unseen repairs (we all know how bad these rust!!!) Rough paintwork around chassis number. Waistline trim hole too large on left hand front wing. Front struts and headlight holders wrong colour. Exhaust valves not cleaned thoroughly. Brake servos wrong colour. Bulkhead wiring not fitted properly, grommets displaced. There was a another Taiga CSL at the same auction that was nearly £60,000 cheaper. Bargain compared to this one!!!!!
