Comments:
Restoration was performed by Automotive Perfection of
Redwood City, CA. It won its class at the Palo Alto Concours 2001,
and other trophies from Concorso Italiano, 2000-2001. This is a true
'lightweight' that is fully restored to award winning condition,
less than 5K miles since restoration which was completed in 2000,
all original except for motor which is a 3.3 bottom end that has
been balanced and blueprinted, the crank is deep cycled nitrided,
and polished to original spec, the rods are polished and magnafluxed,
9.3 Mahle pistons, Alpina style head (ported, combustion chambers
reshaped) fitted with 305 degree camshaft, triple fly cut valve job
with all new components (valves, springs, rockers, shafts, etc.),
exhaust gaskets, indexed, Bosch injection completely refurbished
including replacement of fuel hoses with fabricated stainless parts,
all other components new (oil pump, clutch, etc.), Stahl headers
with custom larger diameter resonators leading to straight pipe (no
muffler), LSD differential, , progressive rate springs fitted with
Bilstein shocks, totally refurbished suspension and brakes including
master cylinder, brake lines, rotors and calipers, and adjustable
brake bias valve. All electrical ancilliaries replaced (starter,
alternator, controls, etc.). Ignition modified - distributor (breakerless
electronic), and MSD system installed. Radiator re-cored with 4 row
insert. Transmission original Getrag lightweight 4 speed, inspected
seals, gaskets and bearings replaced and CV joints replaced. If one
were to try to replicated this, the restoration costs alone would
exceed $70,000.
The paint is excellent and is
a factory-original color and the car comes with an unmounted and
unpainted correct rear spoiler. The seats are black Scheel buckets.
This is a no excuses car! Totally rust-free with 59,000 kilometers.
