D I have a photo of an old Le Zebre which I would like to send to you for identification of the model and year of production. My brothers and I owned this car 60 years ago in Adelaide, South Australia. We loved this old car. My brothers and I bought this car in about 1949 for £25 (Australian pounds) when we were university students in Adelaide. We pulled it apart and reconditioned it as much as we could afford at the time. The four cylinder engine had a solid block and head and the pistons had to be removed from below. The cylinders were honed and the engine reassembled. The sump was made of alloy. The four-speed gearbox was also pulled apart and the clutch as well. Somehow we got it back together and in good working order. We learnt a lot about engines in those days and had some memorable and quite long trips in it. You will notice that is only has one seat with a storage compartment/dickey seat at the tail. The differential was not original and was a higher ratio Ford-T import. We got about 40mpg on the longer trips and could do about 40MPH. Courtesie Tony.
Same car today / Meme voiture aujourd'hui
Second chassis bought by Tony and Ian.
