It has had only three owners, all of whom lived in dry climates, kept the car garaged, rarely drove it, and carefully maintained it. David Baker of Oroville, California was a mechanic who worked on CSI Inc's CSL and other cars and he bought this car from an elderly couple who lived in Malibu, California, and who visited his shop for repairs on the car while on a road trip to his area, probably around 2007. They had owned the car for a very long time--possibly even importing it from Italy themselves. Dave bought it from them for a reported $35,000, because they were too old to drive it and just wanted to get rid of it. Anyway, CSI Inc tried to resell it for David for a year or more, and Dave kept raising his price. CSI Inc had several offers, but he rejected them all. During that time, Mike Goertz heard about the car and went to David's mom's house with $65,000 in cash, and persuaded her to sell it to him (she was the legal owner of the car) for that amount. This was probably late 2009. Then in August 2010 Mike showed the car at Monterey, and a friend of his saw it there and bought it from him for $225,000. Transactions:
