1972 BMW 3.0 CSL
2285072
Titles: HSL 153L
Color: Fjord Blue metallic (037)
Modification: rebuilt in Ireland with a CSA shell.
Update 2017: The previous owner (Stephen Locke) died
whilst restoring the car.
I was asked to finish restoring it so the family could sell the car, but the car was in a terrible state as repairs had been started and were very, very poor, the car could have been ruined. This meant that the restoration cost was more than the value then so I purchased the car as a donor car. I’m so glad that I stuck it away in a store for a few years rather than stripping it. Currently I am restoring the bodywork but only in between jobs. I do have some history but not much as the previous owner had as the family could only locate the logbook etc not the service and MOT history. I have heard that it was maybe re-shelled from a CSA donor car but this is not showing to be correct as some of the body shell and chassis details are definitely not a CSA, ECU clips factory welded in the rear floor well, a bracket on the battery tray for the fuel filter on an injection car, interior light on the N/S roof frame, the roof is definitely a CSL roof as it’s 0.6 mm and all the panels are correct except the door frames as they do have steel tops between the outer frame (personally I prefer this as the doors stay more rigid and close with a better action) and steel hinges which I will change back to Ali. I do have a list of previous owners but no real history Any more info or history on 2285072 would be really appreciated. Restoration:
Car was bought in Jan 2010 by Clayton with the intent to break it. Owner:
