Gesichte:

History:

This BMW 3.0 CSL ''Batmobil'' is number 34 of 110 produced vehicles in the first Batmobil series. 57 vehicles were produced in a second series at a later time. In 1973 BMW made the CSL available to the then BMW factory racing driver Dieter Quester as a factory car for private use. Afterwards Dieter Quester registered the vehicle for the company of his father "Fritz Quester Spezialbaustoff Großhandlung" in Vienna.

The second owner was Siegfried Pust, an Austrian racing driver, who among other things contested various races in a Porsche 906. The original Austrian vehicle papers from 1974 as well as a FIA HISTORIC VEHICLE IDENTITY FORM are available.

The vehicle remained in Austria all these years and was slightly modified some years ago for the historical motor sport. The CSL stood for approximately 20 years in a large BMW collection in

This model is from 1973 and belongs to the third and last development stage of the 3.0 CSL. Like the second series, these cars had an injection system and the cubic capacity of the six-cylinder engine was increased to almost 3.2 litres. Thus the engine produced 210 HP. The nickname "Batmobil" was given to the third series, as most people know, because of its extensive aerodynamics package - mainly due to the huge rear wing.

However, it was not approved for road use and was therefore rarely seen. BMW racing driver Hans-Joachim Stuck is said to have been asked with his "Company-CSL" whether the rear wing on his coupé was a new ski rack.
