1973 BMW 30 CSL 2275336 Alpina B2S Exterior Color: Polaris metallic (060) Condition Pristine Mileage 42,024 miles Configuration Left Hand Drive (LHD)
The Alpina factory built less than 15 of these
extremely rare BMWs and only nine are known to
exist today. This particular car was first owned
by a prince in Liechtenstein who ordered the car
built with all the Alpina options available in
1973. He rarely used the car over the next ten
years and as a result it remained in as
delivered condition.
The car was imported to the United States in the
early 1980’s and later purchased by a well know
BMW expert who began a seven year “nut and bolt”
restoration. All parts were either re-finished
or re-plated to better than factory quality or
replaced with New Old Stock (NOS) parts. The
attention to detail on body fit and finish is
incredible. All mechanical components have been
completely rebuilt and are in perfect condition
and specification. The result is a stunning
“better than new” Alpina. Of the 42024 original
miles on the car, only 2000 have been added
since the restoration was complete.
The car went undefeated for three years in
SCCA sanctioned Concours events with an average
score of 100 and two “Best of Show” trophies
between 1994 and 1996. In total this extremely
rare Alpina 3.0 CSL has won 27 first place
concours awards and is considered by many as the
high water mark in terms of authenticity and
restoration detail. All of the Alpina modifications are period
correct and in perfect “as new” condition. The
3.0 liter B2S engine produces 250 Horsepower and
is equipped with three 45 DCOE Weber carbs and
the unique cast alloy Alpina cold air box and
headers. The engine is equipped with 10.5:1
compression pistons, lightened crankshaft,
ported and polished heads with larger valves,
stiffer valve springs and more radical cams. The
Alpina specification ZF 5 speed close ratio
transmission, adjustable sway bars, large brakes
are all in perfect condition The original Alpina steering wheel, VDO three gauge pack, map light, and racing seats complete the interior. The Alpine body modifications include a front air dam, side graphics, Plexiglas side windows, chrome fender extensions, competition belt driven differential cooler, and Rare 15” Alpina Magnesium Competition Wheels.
