BMW 3.0 CS, CSL
This is BMW CS chassis number 2200093. This is the oldest
known E9 coupe built for racing. The BMW coupe was officially
launched in 1969 and models were made from then until the last coupe
rolled off the line in 1975. 2200093 was just the 93rd coupe built
and rolled off the pre-production line in the Fall of 1968.
According to BMW official records, this chassis was used as a test
and development car at the Munich factory before being consigned to
BMW Ende. It was raced actively in FIA competition until 1978.
Thereafter it was sold to Sweden and raced there in club and
hillclimb competition until the 80’s. It was found by me in a
storage facility in Stockholm in the early 90’s and was eventually
purchased, imported and restored in 2007. Racing paint schemes on
the car uncovered during restoration included white, fjord blue,
dark blue, gold, green and the final livery, orange/red. Courtesie Motoporter (Facebook) http://www.carbuildindex.com/17724/1969-bmw-2800-fia-gruppe-2-csl-barn-find-restoration/
